fitness hacksWhile six-pack abs are the ultimate symbol of fitness for many people, there are just as many who have never even seen their abs. For some, six-pack abs can be extra elusive, due to genetics, cortisol levels and other issues. This is why we’re sharing some awesome fitness hacks to help you reveal that six-pack you’ve dreamt about—or a four-pack at least. Don’t get us wrong—good abs take lots of hard work, but with a few tweaks, they can be less difficult to attain.

1. Cut out the crap.

Many experts say that achieving a six-pack is one quarter exercise and three quarters diet. If this is true, then the fastest way to a six-pack is by cutting out the crap in your diet. This includes refined sugars, simple carbs, processed foods and alcohol, which cause insulin levels to spike. Instead, focus on eating whole foods and produce as much as possible. This will help diminish the layer of fat covering the muscle underneath.

2. Load up on lean protein.

Lean protein is essential for weight loss and building lean muscle. The more lean muscle we have, the greater amount of calories we burn. By eating more sources of lean protein, you’ll help eliminate the fat and develop the muscle its hiding.

3. Do cardio on an empty stomach.

Some experts believe that when you do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, you force the body to burn stored fat for energy. While many have success with this strategy, it’s not for everyone. Try it and see how it works for you.

4. Intermittent fasting.

This weight loss technique has been shown to reduce body fat significantly, which helps reveal abs that much quicker. Click here to learn more about intermittent fasting and the proper techniques.

5. Train your whole body.

Do a mixture of cardio and strength training to achieve a well-balanced aesthetic and reduce fat. Cardio burns calories, boosts circulation and revs the metabolism. Strength training builds muscle, promotes bone health, develops better body mechanics and boosts overall health. Mix it up by doing lots of interval and circuit training for best results. Of course, core work is essential to developing your abs and strengthening your back as well. The stronger your back, the better your posture—and the straighter you stand, the more confident you’ll feel.

6. Plank it out.

While six-packs aren’t built just by doing ab exercises, they obviously help. Do a 60-day plank challenge with yourself and we bet you’ll see a marked difference.
